Twisted Koa™ and Mica Flake Micrylicast™ Pen Blanks

These amazing Sterling Silver, Capt Cooke Gold, and  Bronze Flake Micrylicast™ Acrylic Pen Blanks really draw you in. The Mica mineral flakes are encased in resin and those blanks by themselves are amazing but when mixed with Hawaiian Curly Koa they really pop!. Twisted Koa™  BBW (Blue, Black and White) is a Tri-Color  blank merged with Curly Hawaiian Koa. Shown here on the Hamaki Rollerball/Fountain Pen and adorned with beautiful Mother of Pearl dot inlay. The Twisted Koa™ blanks measures between 3/4 and 7/8 inch square by 5 inches long and is an exceptional melding of gorgeous and dynamic Hawaiian curly koa and colorful acrylic. . Divided with contrasting dyed veneers.  Ensure blank is secure while drilling as mixed media and different hardness of material may cause blank to move if not secured. I also like to put my blanks on mandrel and use a band saw set at 45 degrees and cut down the edges...the stop sign shape means less cutting, tools stay sharper longer and less chance of blowout. Recommend using Polyurethane glue on the brass tube insert. I have had really good luck with these on the lathe but stuff happens, not responsible for blowouts. These pen blanks drill and turn easily, but are a bit softer than regular acrylics and may require slightly more care than standard blanks when material starts to get thin. Leave a bit more girth when turning with tools and sand gently.
